Sabrina Carpenter sparks online criticism with provocative concert performance
Sabrina Carpenter’s recent concert at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, part of her Short n’ Sweet tour, has sparked significant discussion on social media. On November 15, clips from her performance went viral, with critics and fans debating the bold and provocative nature of her act, particularly during the outro of her hit song Bed Chem.
The show’s finale featured Carpenter lying on a stage bed as the curtains closed. Shadows displayed on the backdrop showed her engaged in inappropriate acts, which drew criticism from audiences.
While some were quick to denounce the performance as inappropriate, many defended the singer, arguing she has outgrown her Disney Channel image. One X (formerly Twitter) user, @kumingaWRLD, wrote, “She ain’t meant for kids her Disney days are over.” Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “Not her fault kids r going to her concerts she ain’t for kids 😭.”
Critics, however, expressed concern. “This is just disgusting. Her fans are 13 and above, but shi like this adds to the exposed c**p that they’ve seen,” one person commented.
Despite the divide, Carpenter’s supporters highlighted her creative freedom, with one user stating, “She grown she gonna perform how she like.” Others emphasized it’s the parents’ responsibility to vet shows.
The debate showcases the clash between evolving artistry and audience expectations, as Sabrina Carpenter continues to redefine her image.
