Actors Ramsha Khan and Khushhal Khan recently spoke out about the prevalent issue of delayed payments to actors and crew in the entertainment industry.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network’s Haroon Rashid, the pair shared their experiences dealing with financial instability.
Khushhal voiced his frustration, saying, “It’s disrespectful not to pay on time because we’re there on time.” Both actors noted that delays in payments had become so routine that many artists had to compromise on their self-worth and financial security.
Ramsha, addressing the matter seriously, commented, “I have to pay my bills, man,” and shared how she tackles the issue by refusing to work if her payments aren’t settled. “You either clear my cheque or I’m not coming on set,” she stated.
The actors also pointed out the lack of solidarity in the industry, with Ramsha observing, “If Khushhal and I even try to take a stand, the three other actors are going to let it go. There’s no unity.” Khushhal expressed hope for a collective effort to demand better practices, urging the industry to adopt more professional standards.
