Why Shahid Kapoor calls ‘Perfect’ marriage a ‘Dangerous Term’?
Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput, one of Bollywood’s most admired couples, have enjoyed over nine years of joyful marriage. While many online describe their relationship as a “perfect marriage,” the “Deva” actor offered a more nuanced perspective. He explained how he and his wife work together to reach mutual agreements on various matters.
During his conversation with Raj Shamani, Shahid Kapoor shared his thoughts on the idea of a “perfect marriage.” He said, “It’s a dangerous term you should avoid using. It usually leads to disappointment. There is no such thing as a perfect marriage; a good marriage or a healthy marriage is what it can be.”
The actor elaborated that marriage is an ongoing journey of understanding, acceptance, and mutual respect. He stressed the importance of valuing each other, saying, “You have to accept that we are not on the same track; we are on separate tracks, choosing to move forward together.”
He emphasized the importance of maintaining individuality for both partners. He explained that giving space and privacy is essential, while also being present for your partner during the vulnerable phases of their life is equally crucial.
He explained how he and his wife, Mira Rajput, make decisions together. He shared that while both have their input on various matters, he takes the lead in some areas, while Mira makes the final call in others.
He provided an example to illustrate his point, explaining that if his wife is not at home and one of their kids falls ill while he is there, they communicate. However, his wife makes the final decision because she has spent more time with the children. He acknowledged that during the first 7 to 8 years of their marriage, he was more focused on work, while his wife had greater insight into the children’s needs due to spending more time with them.
He said, “So if that day I happen to be there, it doesn’t mean I get a veto. We will still have to communicate, but eventually, she takes the decision.” He jokingly mentioned if it comes to purchasing a car even for his wife, he would get to take the final call.
