Netflix to develop live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on The Forgotten Realms
Fans of Dungeons & Dragons will be thrilled to learn that Netflix is developing a live-action series based on The Forgotten Realms. According to Deadline, acclaimed producer Shawn Levy is attached to the project, making it an exciting prospect for fantasy lovers.
Set in the iconic Forgotten Realms campaign, the series will take place in the beloved fantasy world that has captivated gamers since 1987. The setting has been central to many of the most iconic adventures in the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, including the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which drew inspiration from the same source material.
Drew Crevello has been tapped as the writer and showrunner for the project and will collaborate with Hasbro Entertainment. Reports indicate that he has already written the pilot episode. Additionally, Crevello will executive produce alongside Dan Levine and Levy’s 21 Laps.
The adaptation has undergone several redevelopments, and sources reveal that Crevello’s vision is a “brand new concept that is not related to any of the previous outings.” With Levy’s expertise from Stranger Things, expectations for the Netflix series are sky-high.
