Will ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ have a sequel? Actor Kunal Roy Kapur reveals

A decade after its release, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved films. Following its recent re-release in theatres, fans have been speculating about the possibility of a sequel. However, actor Kunal Roy Kapur, who played Taran Khanna in the film, does not think it’s necessary.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kunal stated, “It is complete. It is already done, right? The journeys of those characters are done. They are not needed really.” He believes the film told its story in entirety, leaving little room for continuation.

The film featured Kalki Koechlin’s character, Aditi, marrying Taran after realizing her love for Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur) was one-sided. When asked if Aditi and Taran would still be together, Kunal responded, “Given the graph of the movie, they would not be in a divorce court. They would definitely be a happily married couple. I can’t tell if she would be happily married with Taran, but he would probably be happy.”

However, Ranbir Kapoor previously hinted at a possible sequel. “I think Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani would make a good sequel… Ayan (Mukerji) also had a very nice story,” he shared in 2023, adding that it would explore where Bunny, Naina, Avi, and Aditi are a decade later.
