Aditya Chopra transformed an entire floor of YRF into a research department for Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj

Prithviraj, the upcoming film starring Akshay Kumar, is based on the life and heroism of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Given the subject, Yash Raj Films and director Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi wanted the film to be as true to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life as possible. For that Aditya Chopra turned one entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj!

“From 2004 until 2019, I had personally worked on the script, upgrading it every year!” he adds. As a result, I had a lot of material that could be utilised as a reference point for writing the final draft of the film. As well as supplementary literature for us and the actors to revisit throughout production. Before the filming began, various books, a variety of clothing that were used as references, armour and weaponry, and other items were transported into YRF.”

“There were so many stuff,” he continues, “that Aditya Chopra turned a whole floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj.” We left the research bay open until the very final day of the filming! Now, we’re working on a strategy to present all of this knowledge to the public. That the teams are figuring out how to best present it so that people can appreciate the extent of the effort that went into honouring the king.”

“When Dr. Saab recounted the screenplay to me. I was taken aback by the amount of study that he had done in writing this film,” Akshay Kumar says. Writing and directing a historical is a difficult task. And I am impressed that he has gone to such lengths to ensure that we are giving the highest possible honour to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and heroism. He patiently waited 18 years of his life to nurture and shape Prithviraj into the most exquisite retelling of the Samrat’s existence! I hope that people enjoy this movie and that it becomes the most accurate depiction of the strong king’s life.”

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is well known for directing the television epic Chanakya also directed Prithviraj. Manushi Chhillar plays King Prithviraj’s loving Sanyogita. Moreover her debut is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly anticipated debuts of 2022. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on June 3rd.
