Vivek Agnihotri, the director of The Kashmir Files, made news on Friday when he released a video of himself going around the street while surrounded by multiple security agents. Many of his supporters expressed their displeasure, citing the ‘waste’ of their tax dollars. He has now stated that the same tax money is used to battle terrorism, and that if that is repealed, he will be able to live freely.

Agnihotri replied to a Twitter user who said, “Shocking to see how much of tax payers’ money is being wasted on security on a s****ag anti-national like you.” He shared a picture of a heavily guarded street in Kashmir and wrote, “Tax payers money is used here to combat religious terrorism. If this stops, I can also live freely. #Kashmir.”

On Friday, he posted a video of himself taking a tour around the city. On Twitter, he wrote alongside it, “The price one has to pay to show the Genocide of Hindus in Kashmir. In a Hindu majority country. Freedom of expression, ha! #ImprisonedInOwnCountry #Fatwa.”

“Oh my tax money!” and “What a waste of taxpayer’s money!” were among the comments on the tweet. “Humare tax ke paise se security le rahe hain, apni movie tax free karke,” one commenter added, “He is getting security protection from our tax money after his movie The Kashmir Files was made tax free.”
