Kangana Ranaut calls Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee ‘flop’ after release

On the day when Selfiee was released, actress Kangana Ranaut criticised the movie on her Instagram page. The film, which stars Emraan Hashmi and Akshay Kumar in the key roles, is directed by Raj Mehta of Good Newz fame. In response to a Selfiee box office report that likened Kangana to Akshay, the Queen actor mockingly praised Karan Johar.

“Karan Johar movie Selfie has hardly made 10 lakhs on the first day I don’t see even one trade or media person talk about it forget mocking or bullying him the way they harass me…” stated Kangana in a tweet comparing the opening day performance of her most recent film, Dhakaad, to Selfiee.

In the following post, Kangana reposted a story with the heading, “Male version of Kangana Ranaut!,’ Netizens react as Akshay’s ‘Selfiee’ fails to impress viewers, may be his 6th flop film in a row.”  The actor said, “I was looking for news about selfie flop I found all the news is about me… yeh bhi meri hi galti hai,”  “Wah bhai Karan johar wah” she continued, adding  “Wah bhai Karan johar wah (Congrats).”

The Malayalam movie Driving License has an official Hindi version in the form of Selfiee. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prithviraj starred in the original movie. Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, who play a superstar and a cop respectively, have reprised their roles. Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha also appear in the movie. Together with Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Star Studios, it has the support of Karan Johar’s Dharma Production.

Trade analysts projected that Selfie will earn between $4 and $5 crore on its debut day, which is Friday. If true, Akshay Kumar will have had one of his worst openings in the last ten years of his career. There are just 1200 theatres available for the movie in India.

Dhaakad, Kangana‘s most recent film, was one of the worst-performing movies of 2022. It was released on May 20, 2022, under the direction of Razneesh Ghai. With less than 1 crore earned on the first day, the movie had a terrible opening weekend. Afterwards, according to PTI’s trade sources, the film was removed by distributors because of “extremely low audience turnout.” Emergency will be Kangana‘s upcoming film.
