Royal family members are said to have special pseudonyms that private and royal staff use to refer to them as a safety protocol, but the Duchess of Cambridge once let her secret royal moniker slip while shopping in 2010!
According to reports, Kate made the error after realising she had forgotten to bring her purse with her while shopping for a wetsuit at a water sports store.
The store’s owner, Dave Buckland, did not recognise Kate and asked for her name so he could hold the item for her, to which she reportedly replied, “Mrs Cambridge.”
Kate wasn’t married to Prince William at the time, and one of her now-famous code names was Mrs Cambridge.
“He was looking straight at her and actually commented that it was quite an unusual surname,” a friend of hers told The Magazine at the time. He had no idea who she was. She simply smiled and said she’d return. He’s never forgotten it.”
