Todd and Julie Chrisley are not giving up easily, and they believe they will prevail. The two promised to challenge the ruling the day after being given a combined sentence of 19 years in prison for financial crimes and gave an explanation of why they were “optimistic about the road ahead.”

“The Chrisley family had a terrible day yesterday. However, Todd and Julie are devout Christians, and their faith gives them courage as they contest their convictions, according to Alex little, the couple’s lawyer, who spoke to People on Tuesday.

“Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid,” Little claimed.

“Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”

For bank fraud and tax evasion, Todd, 53, received a 12-year prison term from the federal government. Julie, 49, received a seven-year term for her involvement in the crimes. A 16-month probationary period will follow both of their punishments.

The “Chrisley Knows Best” performers were found guilty of several offenses in June after being indicted in August 2019. Their reality program and spinoff series were both canceled following their sentencing.

Prosecutors stated in a sentencing memo last week that “The Chrisleys have built an empire based on the lie that their wealth came from commitment and hard work.”

“The jury’s unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another, lying to banks, stiffing vendors, and evading taxes at every corner.”

Todd and Julie, who have remained innocent throughout the process, had previously requested less jail time than was advised. They were given much more than they requested, but much less than what the prosecutors sought.

The court refused the couple’s request for a new trial on October 28 on the grounds that a witness reportedly “lied” during their spring trial. The couple has three children together: daughter Savannah, 25, boys Chase, 26, Grayson, 16, and son Chase, 25.

Along with his son Kyle, 31, and daughter Lindsie, 33, Todd is also the father of Teresa Terry, his ex-wife.
