Girls, get ready to let it all hang out because Shania Twain will perform at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards. The five-time Grammy winner will receive The Music Icon Award at the PCAs presentation on December 6 in recognition of her record-breaking four-decade career and enduring influence on the music business, according to NBC, which made the announcement on November 16.
In addition to accepting the prize, Shania Twain will perform a medley of her greatest hits as well as her brand-new song, “Waking Up Dreaming,” from her sixth album Queen of Me, which will be available on February 3, 2023. Since winning Favorite Country Female Singer in 2005, the country singer won’t have performed on the People’s Choice Awards stage until then.
“I’m so incredibly honored to be named Music Icon,” the “Man! I feel like a Woman!” singer said. “I have some of the greatest fans in the world. They have supported me since the early days, and it’s their love and passion that keeps me going. I’m thrilled to go back on tour and bring my new music and fan favorites to them, and what better way to start than at the People’s Choice Awards!”
NBC Universal Television and Streaming’s Cassandra Tryon, SVP, Entertainment Live Events, noted, “Throughout her extraordinary career as the “Queen of Country Pop,” Shania has paved the road for several multi-genre performers. Her admirers have grown throughout time and her music has stood the test of time. We are honored to present her with this award, and we look forward to hearing some of her top songs when she takes the stage.”
Twain is still the best-selling female country pop musician of all time with five studio albums recorded and more than 100 million albums sold globally. Songs like “Any Man of Mine,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “You’re Still the One” are timeless hits from her discography.
Let’s Go!, Twain’s second residency in Las Vegas, began in 2021 and ran through September 2022 after selling out. A brand-new, career-spanning documentary on Twain’s life and work, titled Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl, was made available on Netflix in July 2022.
