Taylor Swift is reportedly adding another achievement to her resume.

Taylor Swift’s short film won recognition at the MTV Video Music Awards and an American Music Award. The short film, which stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, has earned positive reviews thus far, but it won’t be competing for the coveted golden trophy.
Swift’s All Too Well: The short film received significant Oscar buzz, but it did not make the list of contenders for Best Live Action Short Film. That does not, however, exclude the singer from earning her first Oscar. The 15-track shortlist for the Best Original Song Oscar in 2023, which was announced by the Film Academy, features a mix of emerging and seasoned artists, including none other than the “All Too Well” hitmaker herself. The original song “Carolina” from the Olivia Newman-directed mystery-thriller movie Where the Crawdads Sing is one of the Oscar-nominated songs, despite the fact that the singer-first songwriter’s short film might not have made the cut.
In the movie Where the Crawdads Sing, a young woman who was previously romantically linked with a guy and later accused of his murder tells her narrative of growing up in the marshes of the Deep South. Swift, who co-wrote and produced the soundtrack for the movie, recently admitted on Instagram that she wrote the song, especially for the movie because she adored the book with the same name, which served as the inspiration for the movie. Other artists up for the Best Original Song Oscar in 2023 include Given, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Son Lux, Selena Gomez, Rita Wilson, and Lady Gaga.
On the other side, All Too Well: The short film, which was influenced by her former union with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, is a heartrending story of love and sorrow. Swift is reportedly adding another achievement to her resume and broadening the breadth of her creative abilities by making her feature directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures, per a previous Variety article.
Given how much Swift adores fairy tales and love stories, even though the specifics of the next Swift-directed movie are yet unclear, it is reasonable to presume that it will at the very least center on a romantic connection and maybe explore emotional and painful storytelling. Given her recent work on All Too Well: The Short Film and a few of her own music videos, such as “Mine,” “Lover,” “The Man,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “cardigan,” and “willow,” the singer-songwriter is no stranger to working behind the camera.
In the most recent episode of Variety’s annual directors on directors program, the singer and Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin) spoke about everything related to cinema and the sources of inspiration for their individual works.
