The largest fan gathering of the year is beginning in Brazil as we enter the holiday season. Cast and creatives from major studios have arrived in the Southern Hemisphere to reveal new trailers, posters, and behind-the-scenes teases for all of your favorite shows, movies, and other media as CCXP 2022 returns to in-person celebrations. The HBO adaptation of the renowned Sony PlayStation game The Last of Us is one of the most eagerly awaited television programs of 2023. In the series, Pedro Pascal plays Joel Miller, a smuggler tasked with transporting Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a young woman believed to possess the cure for a virus that could wipe out humanity, to the quarantine zone.

Pascal is currently in So Paulo to offer fans a sneak preview of the next series, which launches in January. HBO unveiled a full-length trailer for the show during the panel, expanding on the teaser we saw earlier this year. The new teaser emphasizes Joel and Ellie’s father-daughter relationship. The new footage also provides viewers with another terrifying view of the Clickers and the post-apocalyptic world, all set to an eerie rendition of A-ha’s “Take on Me.”

Joel and Ellie are portrayed as they struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic version of the US in The Last of Us video game series. When it is learned that Ellie appears to be immune to the Cordyceps illness, which has transformed the bulk of the populace into what are known as Clickers—zombie-like creatures—Ellie becomes a target.

In a recent interview with Collider’s Christina Radish, Murray Bartlett, who will be playing Frank, described the upcoming episode’s script as “one of the best hours of television” he’s ever read and said the show is “beautifully written.” Frank is a man who helped fortify a nearby town that Joel and Ellie pass through on their journey. According to Bartlett, the Last of Us is anticipated to depict a really delicate, human story despite its terrifying beasts and dismal environment.

In addition to Pascal, Ramsey, and Bartlett, the series will also feature performances from Anna Torv as Tess, Joel’s partner in more ways than one, Nick Offerman as Bill, Murray’s Frank’s ex-partner, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Melanie Lynskey, who will play Tommy Miller, according to a previous trailer.

The original Joel and Ellie, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson are also scheduled to appear in unspecified roles in addition to Merle Dandridge returning the part of Marlene that she voiced in the video game series. Storm Reid from Euphoria, Nico Parker from Dumbo, and Jeffrey Pierce from Bosch, who provided the voice of Tommy in The Last of Us Part II, round out the cast as Riley, Ellie’s buddy, and Perry, respectively.
