Lance Kerwin, a star of the 1970s, has died in San Clemente, California, at the age of 62. He was best known for his roles in the TV series James at 15 and the original Salem’s Lot. Lance Kerwin passed suddenly this morning, as stated in a message on social media by his daughter Savanah Kerwin on Tuesday. Thank you for sharing your warm thoughts, memories, and prayers. She continued by assuring his admirers and friends, “He adored every single one of you.”

The actor made his acting debut as a youngster on an Emergency! Episode from 1974, and he also had an appearance in the after-school special The Boy Who Drank Too Much. He became a teen sensation in the 1970s when he played a boy who was having a hard time adjusting to adulthood in the short-lived series James at 15, which was created by Dan Wakefield and written by Wally Dalton, Bill Nuss, Dan Wakefield, and Shelley Zellman. It ran for just 21 episodes but cemented his status as a major teen heartthrob. He later starred in the miniseries Salem’s Lot, which was adapted from the second book by Stephen King.

Tobe Hooper, who also directed The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, adapted the novel, and Kerwin played Mark Petrie, a young man who turns into a vampire hunter, with actors like James Mason and David Soul. Both fans and critics adored the show, and the vampire horror feast was so well-liked that it was made into a foreign movie.

The Boy Who Drank Too Much with Scott Baio, Enemy Mine, and cameo appearances on Simon & Simon and Murder, She Wrote are just a few of the films and TV episodes Kerwin appeared in continuously during the 1980s. Shazam!, Wonder Woman, Insight, The Family Holvak, A Killer in the Family, Reflections of Murder, The Mysterious Stranger, Faerie Tale Theatre: The Snow Queen, The Fourth Wise Man, Final Verdict, Young Joe, the Forgotten Kennedy, and many more of his notable works are among his other notable productions. He played Anderson in David L. Cunningham’s western drama The Wind and the Reckoning last year after playing one of his final roles in the 1995 film Outbreak.

Kerwin served as a preacher in Hawaii following his time as an actor. He is survived by his five children, Savanah, Fox, Terah, Kailani, and Justus, as well as his wife of more than 20 years, Yvonne. In these challenging times, our thoughts are with his friends and family.
