The still-young Mammoth Film Festival keeps expanding quickly every year, releasing a lot of buzzy movies starring big celebrities. The festival has been one of California’s top winter gathering places for showcasing varied filmmakers and artists’ work since 2018. In order to better accommodate all the entrants, this year’s event will literally expand in size by adding a fifth day to the festivities. The initial group of films that will have their world premieres at the festival can only be revealed by Collider, who will also publish the whole list of movies headed for the event in the upcoming weeks.

Mammoth, a monster festival compared to previous years, has squeezed 80 movies over five days. The features category will get things started, where Emile Hirsch and Diego Calva’s Bonded will have their world premieres alongside Danny A. Abeckaser’s The Engineer. The next picture is Some Other Women, which was directed by Joel David Moore, best known for his role as Norm in James Cameron’s Avatar movies. His most recent will air on Friday Fright Night, a festival tradition.

The first slate of films also includes other blockbusters like Bad Hombres, starring Tyrese Gibson and Luke Hemsworth, On Fire, directed by Peter Facinelli, Dyad, starring Nick Cassavetes, Paul Johansson, and Robert Kirkland, Wednesday’s Joy Sunday in Mariette Lee Go’s Rise, and The Duel, starring Dylan Sprouse, Hart Denton, and Patrick Warburton.

American Badass: A Michael Madsen Retrospective, which will make its world premiere in the documentary category, is the sole entry that has been officially announced to date. The movie covers the entirety of the actor’s life and goes in-depth on a journey through both his challenging upbringing and the legendary roles he played on screen. The film, which was directed by Dominique Milano, stars a wide range of actors, including John Travolta, Ron Perlman, Virginia Madsen, Paul Sorvino, and more, as well as Madsen and his close friend Quentin Tarantino. Over time, more documentaries and shorts will be released, with the movies of this year focusing particularly on female directors.

Possibly the most well-known aspect of the Mammoth Film Festival is its episodic block

The Episodic World Premieres, Episodic Previews, and Shorts block, which highlights original projects from budding creatives, are at the heart of the Mammoth Film Festival universe. Four productions are currently scheduled for the distinguished section, including “Blair Redford produced and starred in “The Many Worlds of George Goodman,” and Gregg Bishop directed “A Girl. A Guy. Lucas Grabeel’s “Lucas Needs an Agent,” which also features Redford, Melissa Kirkendall, and Alexandra Chando, as well as the all-female “Hysterical,” “A Ford. A Love Story,” and “A Ford “April Mureau’s.

The Action Sports Category, a part devoted to films, shorts, documentaries, and other Mammoth-specific productions, completes the Mammoth Film Festival this year. The event takes place in Mammoth Lakes, a small community that many Olympic skiers and snowboarders call home. Jeremy McGrath, one of America’s most well-known Motocross/Supercross champions, will be honored at this year’s event, and a documentary on him will be shown, followed by an audience Q&A.

The complete schedule of events will be announced at a later time, but the festival will also feature special events like roundtable discussions like the Her Voice female filmmaker’s panel, the Friday Midnight Feature, the Saturday Night Special Spotlight, and the closing awards ceremony hosted by Jonathan Kite and Chris Reinacher. This year’s Celebrity Charity Bowling Tournament will benefit the Mammoth Media Institute on March 5.

The festival will also have a panel of celebrity judges from a variety of fields to rate the different films. Rob Weiss, an Emmy-nominated writer and producer of Entourage, Ashley Benson of Pretty Little Liars, Jamie Chung of Big Hero 6, Curt Morgan of Dark Matter, Luke Watson of Britania, and Daysha Broadway of Pretty Little Liars are among the individuals in charge of the tournament (A Black Lady Sketch Show).

In a statement, festival co-founders Tanner Beard and Tomik Mansoori expressed their enthusiasm for Mammoth Lakes’ upcoming year of different projects and voices, saying:

“Mammoth Film Festival looks ahead with great anticipation for its future as it breaks barriers to elevate the standard for film festivals by embracing our film competition, understanding the value of our coveted screenings and world premieres, and establishing our marketplace to elevate our official selections. We are proud to celebrate each and every film that is selected, and proud to be California’s favorite winter film festival”
