When you document a car chase together, you become inseparable! Following the success of his return movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, Harrison Ford congratulated Ke Huy Quan on his Oscar nomination this week. Ke Huy Quan was a co-star with Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

“I’m overjoyed for him. He’s a wonderful man, “At the debut of his brand-new Apple TV+ series Shrinking, Ford, 80, spoke with Entertainment Tonight.

“He’s a wonderful actor. He was when he was a little kid, and he still is,” he added. “I’m glad. I’m very happy for him.”

Ford and Quan, both 51, last appeared in a movie together in Indiana Jones 2 where Quan played the young Short Round and Ford the title character.

When asked if the actors may reunite on screen, Ford responded, “That’d be amazing.”

Previously, the pair got back together in September 2022 when Quan posted a cute selfie of Ford and him on Instagram while at Disney’s D23 Expo. Quan received an invitation because of his part in Season 2 of Loki, while Ford attended the event to promote the next Indiana Jones movie.

Later, Quan spoke about the incident with The New York Times, expressing to the publication that his heart was “Is he going to recognize me? he wondered as he walked up to Ford. He last saw me when I was a young child.”

Before recognizing him, Quan claimed that Ford gave him his “classic, iconic, disgruntled Harrison Ford expression.”

“Oh my god, he probably thinks I’m a fan, and he’s going to tell me not to approach him, I suppose. But he asks, “Are you Short Round?,” and then points at me. I immediately found myself in 1984, when I was a young child, and I responded, “Yes, Indy.” He then beckoned me in and gave me a bear embrace “Quan explained.

The passionate embrace happened decades after Quan’s career was launched by the May 1984 release of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, before he made an appearance in the iconic 1980s film The Goonies.

Quan spoke with The Hollywood Reporter after being nominated for Best Supporting Actor earlier this month for his part in Everything Everywhere All at Once. He discussed the significance of the film’s 11 nominations as well as his own first-time nomination. He referred to the occasion as “an fantastic day.”

“When I heard my name announced, I jumped and I screamed so loud. It was very similar to the day when I got that call from my agent and they told me that I get to play the role of Waymond. I just cannot believe it. For so many years, I’ve always loved watching the Oscars,” Quan said.

“Every year, I would imagine what it’s like to walk down the red carpet, to be in that room, to get nominated. It’s a dream that only existed in my imagination for the longest time,” he continued. “When I had to step away, that dream dissipated. It was so far away that I didn’t think one day it would make its way back. And it did. And it happened today.”

Quan dubbed the 2023 Academy Awards a significant milestone “for the entire AAPI community” as they include the most Asian actor nominations of any year of the ceremony.

The fact that we received 11 nominations and so many acting nominations, he continued, “feels very amazing for us.” “I’m hoping that this is just the beginning of more. I hope that everyone in our community understands this and realizes that it is feasible going forward. Representation is crucial for this reason.”
