Shazam is one item that DC fans are eagerly anticipating and is coming soon! wrath of the gods In the planned follow-up to the 2019 film, Billy Batson and the Shazam! the family embarks on new journeys. As the movie’s March release date draws near, we can take a closer peek at the impending adventure thanks to a brand-new teaser.
We get our first good look at Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso, the daughters of Atlas, in the new teaser. Asher Angel’s Billy, who is now an adult, is changing into a dragon in order to fight it, and Djimon Hounsou’s Shazam also makes an appearance for a brief while. Billy cries out to the dragon, “Hey Khaleesi!” before dispatching him in one of the movie’s funniest moments. The montage also reveals how important Anthea, played by Rachel Zegler, will be to Hespera and Kalypso’s scheme.
In the future film, Billy’s family will cooperate to prevent the daughters of Atlas from annihilating the planet. And because Billy takes the Gods’ powers for granted, they had to go somewhere to reconcile with them. Zachary Levi, who plays Billy Batson/Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Ian Chen, and Meagan Good round out the cast. Darla is played by Faithe Herman and Meagan Good.
Grace Fulton will play Mary in the movie instead of Michelle Borth, who played the role in the original movie. The foster parents of Billy and his brothers, Victor Vásquez, as well as Jovan Armand and D. J. Cotrona as Pedro, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews as Rosa, are also included in the cast. David F. Sandberg is the film’s director, working from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan.
DC Studios is undergoing a significant transition of its own in response to Warner Bros Discovery’s significant restructuring from the previous year. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the newly appointed co-CEOs, will provide a new path for the DC movie franchise. However, Levi made it quite clear that Shazam! won’t be recast during the most recent restructuring, so fans need not fear. The next film is one of the studio’s main releases this year, along with Aquaman 2 and The Flash, according to new WBD CEO David Zaslav. It’s not yet apparent, though, which way the franchise will turn.
