The director of “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” explains why Tigger is absent from the movie
Winnie the Pooh and Piglet will no longer be the beloved couple....
Rhys Frake-Waterfield has surely taken use of the chance to make terror out of characters from those stories, such as Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. The director of the upcoming slasher movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey has listed some of the movies that affected his creation as well as the primary inspiration for the future sequel.
It should be clear by now that Winnie the Pooh Blood & Honey is not the honey-obsessed character we have all come to adore because posters, first look, and trailers are already online. Frake-Waterfield diverges from Disney’s interpretation of Winnie the Pooh, leaving out Tigger in the process, to avoid copyright infringement concerns. The director admitted that he had drawn inspiration from certain slasher classics for Blood and Honey with the intention of giving beloved characters a deadly twist in an interview with SFX Magazine.
“The main franchises I was thinking of while making this were Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Wrong Turn. I really like Wrong Turn. It’s not as big as the other ones, but the first one is on my little list of horror movies that I love.”
Despite having had numerous subpar sequels, the aforementioned horror-thriller masterpieces have withstood the test of time and secured their rightful place in the horror genre as well as a deserving “classic” label. The director was precise about which movie he will utilize as a crucial reference in the sequel, even though he did not say which episodes of Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Wrong Turn were on his mind as he was shooting the movie. And since the sequel is coming up shortly, Terrifier 2 will be one of my main points of reference, he added. I want to be sure to go as big and grandiose with this as they did. I want to push it even further.
In 2022, Terrifier 2 was, to put it mildly, the underdog among other major horror releases. The Damien Leone-directed slasher flick has made good money at the box office despite the fact that the previous movie underperformed in 2016. Due to its usage of adored childhood characters turned into ruthless murderers, Blood & Honey has already caused quite a stir online. However, Frake-Waterfield has affirmed that the likely sequel will unquestionably follow in the footsteps of Art the Clown, despite the fact that it is still too early to estimate how well the movie will do at the box office.
A grown-up Christopher Robin is followed in Blood and Honey as he visits the Hundred Acre Wood and learns that Piglet and Pooh have become ferocious and evil, killing people to survive. The movie is scheduled to premiere on February 15, 2023.
