According to Ana de Armas, social media has changed how people view movie stars forever. The Oscar nominee spoke about social media and its widespread impact on Hollywood success in an interview for the most recent Vanity Fair cover story on Wednesday.

Because to social media, de Armas claimed, “I feel like the current generations don’t have that sense [of mystique surrounding celebrity].

“There is an excessive amount of information available. A movie star is typically thought of as an untouchable person who only appears on film. The enigma is resolved, “She went on. Nobody is withholding anything from anyone anymore, “mostly because we’ve done that to ourselves.”

The Oscar-nominated Blonde actress, 34, was referring to her portrayal of Hollywood’s renowned bombshell Marilyn Monroe when she made her remarks about the disappearance of the movie star.

Despite Monroe’s increased status as an icon, de Armas claimed that she was still able to relate to some qualities of the Golden Period actress in order to play the role.

“There were many things there that I could identify with. If you disregard Marilyn Monroe’s status as a “movie star,” you’ll see that she is only an actor attempting to negotiate both the system and life, which is difficult for anyone to do “connected to de Armas

The Knives Out star also stated that she would prefer not to use social media and that the only reason she does is due to the current advertising environment.

“I currently only have Instagram, and I hardly ever use it because I just think social media is full of mistakes. If it were up to me, I would immediately erase Instagram, but I can’t “She spoke. “I am aware that I am more than just an actress. I am working with other brands and have other obligations. It’s been beneficial for Blonde and the movies I want to discuss.”

She said, “It’s challenging because you feel under pressure to reveal a personal detail or something from your personal life in order to maintain people’s interest. You have to strike some sort of equilibrium, which I find to be quite challenging.”

The actress from Cuba is all too aware of the overlap between her personal and professional lives. She expressed anxiety about the paparazzi and online focus on some elements of her life, such her relationships, in a cover story for Variety published in September.

“I’ve never been someone who seeks attention for anything other than my work. Hence, it is unpleasant, feels disrespectful, feels improper, feels threatening, and feels unsafe when the attention is not on my work “She spoke. “But I’m not sure where you can find protection, particularly in this nation. Other than leaving, I’m not sure how you can prevent that from happening.”

In March 2020, the No Time to Die actress and Ben Affleck, who is currently married to Jennifer Lopez, were romantically linked. The couple had split up, a source later revealed to news in January 2021, claiming that de Armas no longer “wanted to be Los Angeles-based.”

De Armas told Variety that she is “only engaged in my profession” and is not interested in making her private life known. De Armas is currently dating Tinder CEO Paul Boukadakis.

“I want that to stick in people’s minds. I’m not interested in the other side “She spoke. “Some individuals find it easier to accept that. Even some folks enjoy it. I’m among those who would wish to avoid having that.”
