Brian Cox, the TV father of The Succession’s lead, unfetteredly discussed Strong’s commitment to moral integrity. Cox, 76, stated in an interview with Town & Country, “Well, it’s f—-ing annoying. “Don’t start me on it.”

Strong, 44, plays Kendall Roy in the HBO series, the son of Logan Roy, the founder of Waystar Royco. The Roy patriarch and his four offspring rarely agree on how to move their legacy company forward, which leads to many arguments within the family over personal and professional turmoil.

Because of Strong’s Method acting technique, the actors have encountered conflict outside of the script since Kendall has targeted his father the most, who functions as both mentor and tormentor.

Cox said, “He’s a pretty terrific actor.” “And everyone else in the group is in agreement with this. Yet character knowledge and actions are merely a portion of a skill set.”

But, from the viewpoint of the author of placing the Rabbit in the Hat, there is a fine line between getting to know a character and becoming him. Strong “remains that guy [after a take] because he felt if he went anywhere else he’d lose it,” claims Cox.

Adding, Cox “But he refuses! Strong is an artist. He is quite talented. Celebrate the present after you receive it. You know, go back to your trailer and smoke a joint.”

Cox also expressed some fear for Strong’s dedication to Kendall in a 2021 New Yorker profile. “Jeremy always gets fairly great results,” he remarked. “I’m only concerned with what he does to himself. I’m concerned about the difficulties he puts himself through to get ready.”

Strong stated, “To me, the stakes are life and death…. I take [Kendall] as seriously as I do my own life,” in the same article.
