Priscilla Presley declares that she wants to “keep her family together”

On the day when the late singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley would have been 55, her mother, Priscilla Presley, is paying tribute to her.

“Lisa would have turned 55 years old today. My hope is to safeguard my three grandkids and maintain our family’s unity “Less than a month had passed since Priscilla Presley, 77, and her ex-husband Elvis Presley’s daughter died at 54 on January 12 after possibly going into cardiac arrest.

She said, “Like I have my son, I have safeguarded, loved, and led Lisa from the first minute I had her in my arms. “Our hearts are torn, and I’m learning to live without my own daughter,” the author said.

“We sincerely adore you all and are aware of your prayers. I sincerely appreciate your concern for our family “Priscilla wrote in her note.

The “authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie’s will, which specifies that her trust — which includes Elvis’ Graceland property and 15% ownership of Elvis’ estate — would be left to her three daughters, was called into question last week by Priscilla’s legal representatives in a petition filed in Los Angeles.

A 2016 addendum that placed the trust in the care of actress Riley Keough, 33, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14, was deemed illegal by the petition.

Lisa Marie modified her living will in 2010, adding Priscilla as a co-trustee along with her former business manager Barry Siegel, according to the petition, which was obtained by the news.

However, after Lisa Marie passed away, Priscilla learned that a 2016 change had been introduced that had removed Siegel and her as co-trustees and replaced them with Riley, her twin sisters, and her brother Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in 2020.

The petition claims “many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity” of the amendment, including the failure to provide Priscilla with the amendment “as required by the express terms of the Trust,” Lisa Marie’s signature being “inconsistent” with her usual signature, and the absence of a witness or notary.

Priscilla is asking the court to declare the 2016 amendment unlawful on the grounds that the 2010 amendment is still “the authoritative and governing document.”

Priscilla gave an impassioned eulogy during Lisa Marie’s memorial service on January 22, beginning with something she said her granddaughter composed for the followers who came from far and wide to gather in front of Graceland.

“‘I have no idea how to put my mother into words. Truth is, there are too many. Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero to many people all over the world, but Mama was my icon, my role model, my superhero — in much more ways than one,'” said Priscilla. “‘Even now, I can’t get across everything there is to be understood or known about her, but as she always said, I’ll do my best.'”

She then spoke a poem on Lisa Marie’s life, titled “The Old Soul.” “She was born weak, exhausted, and yet strong in 1968. She was fragile but brimming with life. She always anticipated that her stay would be brief “Priscilla stated. “Childhood is over, and I catch a glimpse of her emerald eyes. After that, she started her own family. Then her second kid was born, raising the question in her mind, “Could this be the angel that takes me home?”

The poem continued, “‘Time, of course, flew by. It was time for a tragedy. She knew it was close to the end. Survivor’s guilt, some would say, but a broken heart was the doing of her death. Now, she is home where she always belonged, but my heart is missing her love.'”

“‘She knew that I loved her. I fear I would never touch her,'” said Priscilla, visibly tearing up while delivering the speech. “‘But the old soul is always with me. She doesn’t drift above.’ That says it all, and thank you all for being here… Our heart is broken. Lisa, we all love you.”

“It is with a heavy heart that I must deliver the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla wrote in a statement on Jan. 12, hours after reports that she had been brought to the hospital.

“I have never met a lady who was as passionate, strong and loving as she was. We request discretion as we attempt to cope with this tragic loss, “Priscilla carried on. “Thank you for your prayers and love. No more commentary will be made at this time.”

The formal cause of death cannot yet be determined because the family is still awaiting the results of the toxicology tests.
