In addition to returning Tom Holland as the local Spider-Man, Spider-Man: No Way Home also included other web-slingers from various multiverses, including Tobey Maguire from the three Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi and Andrew Garfield from The Amazing Spider-Man. Titan Books will release “Spider-Man: No Way Home: The Official Movie Special Book,” which will include an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the feature and cast interviews, including one with Holland, in addition to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse already slinging its way into theatres on June 2.

Kevin Feige recently revealed his plans for another Spider-Man outing, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has already begun production.

In an interview published on Marvel ahead of the book’s February 28 release on Amazon, Holland explores what the first several Spider-Man films meant to him and what it was like to work with Maguire and Garfield as various Peter Parkers in their individual multiverses. The British actor admitted that when director Jon Watts first presented the idea, he first did not think it was possible. He stated:

“It will never happen, I thought. They won’t be able to determine that in any manner. It’s simply not going to happen because they won’t consent to do it. Here we are, then! Then we had a fantastic first day, during which we all had suits on and exchanged tales about how to put them on, take them off, locate the zippers, and other such things. It was somewhat insane.”

It has always been Holland’s desire to portray the Marvel superhero, and he recalls watching a Spider-Man movie for the first time with Tobey Maguire in the lead as well as his first viewing of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man movie. Added him:

“They are absolute powerhouses. Being there with them was incredible for me since I still recall going to the movies to witness [Maguire’s] debut movie as well as his second and third. And I recall watching [Garfield’s] debut movie while I was in Wales filming a movie. In a previous interview, I recall stating that playing Spider-Man would be my ideal role. And it was incredible to be there with those two. In order to get to know them both and sort of bring this ideal full circle scenario back… Well, I was just honored to take part in it.”

In 2016, when the 26-year-old actor made his screen debut as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From 2017 through 2021, he played the part again in a number of movies; Spider-Man: No Way Home was his most recent MCU appearance. Holland insisted when questioned about how the two Spider-Man actors affected his portrayal of Peter Parker: “I’m the real deal, dude! No, I could go on for hours about it, but when I was younger, I saw both of their movies and was really enthralled by the concept of being Spider-Man. For me, it involved creating my own version of that childhood fantasy. Kind of recalling how happy I was to watch them do it as a child and putting that into my Peter Parker.”

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, what happened?

When viewers last left off with Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he wasn’t in a good place. The Green Goblin (William Dafoe), who killed his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), was the ultimate villain that he battled alongside his other Spider-Man friends. The memories of his best buddy Ned (Jacob Batalon) and his romantic interest MJ (Zendaya) were similarly erased, leaving Peter Parker with almost nothing. We can only hope that Spider-Man: No Way Home will take a more positive turn for Peter even though the story has certainly been darker for him.
