Halle Bailey, sister of Chloe Bailey, will soon appear in a major motion picture as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, one of the most well-known Disney characters ever. Has the experience of witnessing her sister produce a high-budget Disney movie inspired her to attempt a similar endeavor? On her appearance at Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party, which was filmed in honor of her most recent release, the Amazon Video series Swarm, we specifically discussed this.

Swarm, a project by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, highlights Dominique Fishback’s Skills. Dre was a major fan of pop star Ni’Jah when he was younger. She was identical to her sister Marissa (Bailey), but Dre’s fixation grew as she matured, and occasionally her devotion to Ni’Jah can lead her astray.

We briefly reviewed Bailey’s prior playing roles on shows like Grown-ish and Jane before talking about her future acting aspirations. When asked if her sister’s Little Mermaid experience inspired her to take on a project of similar scope herself or if she’d like to stick to more intimate projects like Jane, Swarm, and her upcoming film, Praise This, she responded as follows:

“You know, the sky’s the limit. She was the ideal Ariel, and I’m very proud of my sister. I believe success comes down to timing and seizing opportunities as they arise. She was the perfect fit for her gentle, heavenly voice. And you’ll come across the proper opportunity. I was therefore able to incorporate my music and connect that with my love for thrillers and suspense, much like I did with Swarm. And even in this movie Praise I got to showcase my performative side, my joyful, bright nature, and other things in this upcoming release. Even with Girl from North Country, which I’m eager to shoot, I’ve always had such a strong affinity for Broadway, so being able to take Bob Dylan songs and turn this Tony Award–winning adaptation into a fantastic movie seems like everything is coming together for me. And what I adore is that each character has a little bit of Chloe in them, which makes it simpler to portray and act as them. And I believe that’s the reason why I’ve enjoyed acting more—a its place where I can be myself without fear of criticism because no one can tell which component of that is Chloe”.

I asked Bailey what animated Disney character she’d most like to see in a live-action movie to cap up that part of the chat for fun. She didn’t instantly mention a Disney superhero, but she did name-drop one that was similar to Ariel and was an animated character:

I’m not sure if there will be a live-action version, but I want to play Storm in Marvel, and Disney owns Marvel, so…”

Could Bailey end up on the MCU cast list, making both of her sisters Disney stars? We’ll find out! Though Kevin Feige and the company are working on X-Men ideas, no concrete plans have been revealed to the public.
