A lawsuit trial involving allegations that Gwyneth Paltrow caused a “hit-and-run” skiing mishap in Utah in 2016 that resulted in a man’s catastrophic injuries is starting in a US court.

Terry Sanderson, a retired ophthalmologist, is suing Paltrow on the grounds that she collided with him at the Deer Valley resort in Park City.

A brain injury, four fractured ribs, and other major injuries are allegedly the result of her skiing “out of control,” according to him.

According to Paltrow’s countersuit, he gave her a “full body blow” when he hit her.

The jury trial’s opening comments are anticipated to be delivered on Tuesday, and the trial is likely to last eight days. The Academy Award winner is anticipated to speak.

After having his last claim for $3.1 million (£2.5 million) rejected, Mr. Sanderson, 76, is now asking for $300,000 (£245,000) in damages.

“This case involves a hit-and-run ski accident at Deer Valley, Utah, where defendant Gwyneth Paltrow skied out of control and hit the back of Terry Sanderson, another skier, who was going downhill, knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, four broken ribs, and other serious injuries,” the original claim, filed in 2019, stated.

Sanderson was left astonished and critically injured as Paltrow stood up, turned, and skied away.

Also, according to the filing, a ski instructor who had been working with Paltrow observed Mr. Sanderson injured but did nothing to assist him.

Also, it stated that the instructor did not call for assistance. Later, in a “false report to protect his client,” Mr. Sanderson was accused of causing the incident.

In a prior interview, Mr. Sanderson claimed he put off filing the complaint for nearly three years due to his inability to operate normally after the concussion and other issues he was having with lawyers.

Afterward, Paltrow filed a complaint in which she claimed that Mr. Sanderson had struck her.

She allegedly quit skiing with her family for the day after being disturbed by the crash, according to the claim.

Mr. Sanderson apologized and assured her that he was okay, it was further stated.
