The actress Jamie Lee Curtis dislikes staying up late. The 64-year-old actress disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night that she had turned down an offer to the next Oscar nominee’s dinner because it was past her bedtime.

The actress, who is up for best supporting actress for her work in Everything Everywhere All at Once, stated on the red carpet, “I’m going to tell you a secret right now. “There is a nominations dinner, a private dinner for Academy Award candidates on Thursday night, and I have declined.”

Curtis, who was present at the luncheon honoring the Oscar candidates last month, went on, “Jamie, you’re nominated for an Academy Award, and I have declined to be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award, you might say at this point. Why? as a result of mom’s early bedtime.”

“Because of this, it will be 9 o’clock before we get lunch, and what’s more? By nine o’clock at night, nothing positive occurs with me “Added she. “Nothing, nothin’!”

Speaking with journalists on the red carpet at the Los Angeles event, Curtis also discussed how it feels to share a nomination with her mother, Janet Leigh, in what she refers to as “a lineage link” for an Academy Award.

She remarked, “You know, I didn’t think about it. “I mean, I was aware of it and I knew it. I never anticipated that happening. I’ve never felt like I’d be anywhere close to the level of my parents, whose success and fame was so legendary. It’s a lovely connection. A lineage relationship exists.”

Because of her performance as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in Everything Everywhere All at Once, Curtis received her first Academy Award nomination back in January. Her mother Leigh was nominated in the same category for her performance in Psycho more than 60 years before to her nomination. The Defiant Ones garnered Tony Curtis, Curtis’ father, a nomination for best actor the previous year.

Curtis, who received a SAG Award this month, said, “Now, yeah, I have my own legacy and my own life. Nevertheless, I don’t really pay much attention to my life, which is my real life, and the fantasy life of showbiz.

For the honor at the yearly awards presentation this week, Curtis will compete against Angela Bassett from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hong Chau from The Whale, Kerry Condon from The Banshees of Inisherin, and Stephanie Hsu from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

On Sunday, March 12, in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, Jimmy Kimmel will serve as the presenter of the 95th Academy Awards, which will be broadcast live on ABC.
