Moses Ingram and Michael Shannon have recently joined the cast of Joshua Oppenheimer’s upcoming musical extravaganza The End, adding a couple of big names to the ensemble. The movie’s plot is currently a secret, but the premise revolves around the last human family left on Earth and shifts into a post-apocalyptic with plenty of musical numbers. The End is currently in production in Ireland, before the team heads over to Italy and Germany for the rest of the filming schedule. If this family can find a solution to their problems before time runs out, the future of humanity will be at stake.

Ingram and Shannon will be joining a cast that already features actors like Tilda Swinton, Tim McInnerny, and Lenny James. The End has become a priority for NEON, who is funding the international co-production, given the majority of the performers associated with the project have been seen in significant films throughout their careers. Shooting on the musical is slated to wrap this summer, but a release date hasn’t been announced by the distributor yet. No matter when the film is released, the audience should be interested in it because of the plot, songs, and cast.

The End the next hit in Joshua Oppenheimer’s filmography, after the director’s last projects, received Academy Award nominations. The documentary The Act of Killing was about a catastrophe that occurred in India in the 1960s. The insightful examination of a horrifying genocide was favorably appreciated by critics and garnered a total of forty awards from various organizations. Oppenheimer telling the story of the last human family on Earth in the style of a Golden Age musical is not a conventional pitch, but the filmmaker is ready to share the concept with the world.
