Shawn Mendes has cleared the air about his relationship status with Sabrina Carpenter.

In an appearance with the Dutch television program RTL Boulevard, the Grammy nominee refuted the idea when asked if he was dating the “Nonsense” singer, saying, “We are not dating.”

Despite not walking the red carpet together, Mendes, 24, and Carpenter, 23, both attended Vanity Fair’s Oscar party on Sunday. Several followers even conjectured that Carpenter’s emerald-colored birthstone was being referenced by the green David Yurman pendant he was wearing.

The two appeared to be having a good time together during a walk in Los Angeles last month.

The celebrity gossip website Deuxmoi published a tip that suggested the two were dating, which in turn generated the initial rumors about the musicians’ potential romance.

They were photographed leaving Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation album release party together on March 9.
