  • The first trailer for Simulant has been released by Vertical Entertainment.
  • The movie is about a love story between an android and a human.
  • The sci-fi movie will be released on May 5.

The first trailer for Simulant, a science fiction thriller that explores the perils of artificial intelligence in a society where sentient robots are free to wander, has been published by Vertical Entertainment. Jordana Brewster and Sam Worthington are among the cast members of the new movie, which will be released both in cinemas and on demand. It was directed by April Mullen.

Simulant plot

Simulant, which was shot under the working title Hey Stranger, follows Faye (Brewster), a widow who turns to an android simulant, or SIM, made in the likeness of her late husband Evan (Robbie Amell), in an effort to find solace. Faye can’t bring herself to love the android the way she loved her husband, despite the fact that they are almost identical, leaving SIM Evan’s love unfulfilled. SIM was determined to win her heart. Evan’s extraordinary capacity for thought and emotion sets off a manhunt under the direction of government agent Kessler (Worthington), who is in charge of catching sentient, potentially dangerous SIMs. Simu Liu and Alicia Sanz will also appear in the movie; the former will portray a coder named Casey.

What does the Simulant trailer tell us?

The AI is seen in the trailer working through a variety of potential “presets” in the trailer. As Faye’s robotic husband’s first appearance is unveiled, things quickly get out of hand even though it appears that the AI is not what she had anticipated. A voiceover says that “skeptics continue to voice concern over simulant integration into society” as the action picks up.

The use of AI is evidently being exploited to conceal some sinister truths about the robots industry, with Casey even ominously stating that “there is a lot of bad coding. All I want to do is eliminate those restraints.” The main action of the film picks up to feature futuristic weapons and a gory drone pursuit before concluding simply with the words “Love triumphs.”
