Zohra Yousuf, Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said that the GEO TV program ‘Aalim Online’, presented by Aamir Liaqat Hussain, the religious scholar, was spreading religious disharmony in the country. Hussain is a Pakistani television host, religious scholar and also a politician. He was a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and served as the Minister of State for Religious Affairs from 2004 to 2007 in the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

On Mar 25, 2014, Yousuf accused him of spreading religious hate speech in the country.  Addressing a symposium at a local hotel in Karachi, Yousuf said that the minorities were humiliated and murdered in the past due to such television programs.

The HRCP chairperson said that the minorities were killed in three districts of Sindh due to hatred spread through ‘Aalim Online’. She said that airing religious conversion on a live TV show was a violation of human rights. She also added that religious parties took over Pakistan Day while the electronic media was providing extraordinary coverage to the Taliban and other militants.

Hussain has also been accused of abusing his influence to spread discord and hatred on many incidents.
