GEO TV, Indian media accuse Pakistan’s intelligence agency of attacking Hamid Mir
On April 22, 2014, Pakistan’s Defence Ministry moved to cancel private news channel GEO TV’s license, saying that it has accused the intelligence agency of attacking journalist Hamid Mir, without evidence.
Hamid Mir was shot and wounded on April 19, 2014, at the Natha Khan Bridge and was taken to a private hospital after the brutal incident took place.
Senior anchorperson Mubashir Lucman was the first of all to condemn the attack on Hamid Mir, yet the channel and Hamid Mir were later devoted to alleging the agency to be behind the attack.
Speaking during his first interaction with the media after the attack, GEO TV’s senior anchorperson said that he has been threatened again to leave the country by the same elements who he alleged were behind the attack.
With this, the Indian media also got an opportunity to turn its guns towards Pakistan’s intelligence agency and started to formally accuse the prime. One important thing to keep in mind is that all these allegations and accusations were baseless and could be challenged if need be.
