Geo News trashes image of Pakistan by disrespecting Javed Miandad

Javed Miandad played a key role in Pakistan’s 1992 WorldCup winning campaign. On February 26, 2020, he took to social media to convey his anger and disappointment towards a TV broadcast, which according to him had ‘disrespected’ him. Do not even bother to guess who this transmission could be from. Yes, of course, it had to be none other than GEO television.

Javed Miandad spoke against GEO News’ coverage of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where host Shahzad Iqbal exchanged jokes with comedian Mir Mohammad Ali, who played Miandad’s character.

He said that those who have worked so much for the country should be treated with respect. A joke should be kept within the limit of a joke. It should be done in a decent manner. According to him, Miandad was being portrayed as a dummy and they were mocking him throughout. He threatened the channel to stop the direct attacks otherwise he would have to take legal recourse and fight till the end. Miandad was visibly upset in a video he posted on his YouTube and Twitter accounts.

Miandad went on to say that he has been a true patriot and worked for Pakistan’s cause which is why he expects respect from the TV channels.
