China terminated many senior officials over handling the deadly spread of coronavirus. Deaths due to virus crossed 1,000.

Officials terminated from office included the Party Secretary for the Hubei Health Commission and the head of the commission.

The deputy director of the state’s Red Cross was also terminated for “dereliction of duty” over “handling of donations”.

The ruling communist party has also punished officials.
