World Oral Health Day

The whole world is celebrating World Oral Health Day on March 20 (today).

On this occasion, President Dr. Arif Alvi has given a special message for everyone. He has urged everyone to adopt oral hygiene habits like regular brushing of teeth could help prevent different diseases.

The President said that March 20 has been declared as World Oral Health Day consequent to his efforts and it was the Pakistani leadership behind the idea to observe this day.

He added that around twenty Ahadith of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Aalehi Wassalam guide the followers about oral hygiene.

Why is World Oral Health Day significant?

The official website worldoralhealthday.org states, “Oral diseases are a major health concern for many countries and negatively impact people throughout their lives. Oral diseases lead to pain and discomfort, social isolation, and loss of self-confidence, and they are often linked to other serious health issues. And yet, there is no reason to suffer: most oral health conditions are largely preventable and can be treated in their early stages.”

The day is targeted to individuals to take personal action, schools, and youth to deliver learning about oral health, oral health professionals, and the healthcare community, government, and policymakers.
