Authorities of Romania have decided not to use the common “EU Traffic Lights” map to identify countries based on their current COVID-19 condition, instead use their own risk classification of risk territories.

Other countries are categorized into green, yellow, and red categories as a result of this classification.

The government of Romania has emphasized that fully vaccinated travelers with a valid vaccination certificate are not required to follow quarantine requirements.

The cumulative incidence rate of new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks must be less than or equal to 1.5 per 1000 people in territories on the green list.

Romania’s green list are permitted to enter the country without being subjected to any testing or quarantine requirements.

Austria, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Antigua and Barbuda, Norway, Vietnam, Luxembourg, Cape Verde, Croatia, Sweden, Qatar, Kuwait, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Namibia, Colombia, Germany, Bolivia, Luxembourg, El Salvador, Australia, Poland, and Singapore are among the territories included in the green category from August 29.

The vaccines listed above are accepted as valid proof of immunity for travelers to Romania.

  • Comirnaty – (BioNTech, Pfizer),
  • Moderna
  • Vaxzervria – AstraZeneca
  • Janssen – Johnson & Johnson
  • Covishield (AstraZeneca – Serum Institute of India)

Despite the fact that the EU Digital Certificate was created to assist travellers in the wake of COVID-19, Romanian officials recorded many examples of people acquiring fake vaccination certificates as a quick method to avoid quarantine restrictions.

Last month, 69 people attempted to enter Romania using fake documents, despite the fact that the Romanian government does not allow travellers who have not been vaccinated or recovered from the virus to enter the country.
