Green jackfruit flour has been found to lower HbA1c and improve obese liver in diabetics. Few fitness professionals have recommended green jackfruit flour to diabetes patients, despite rising awareness in the healthcare community.

“Green jackfruit flour is a genuine nutritional gem for medical nutrition therapy,” Dr. Vinod Abichandani, Diabetes and Endocrine Physician at Ramanand Clinic in Ahmedabad, told HT Lifestyle. . Use green jackfruit flour daily to improve metabolic metrics like blood sugar and glycemic variability. While consuming suggested amounts of Jackfruit Atta on a regular, long-term basis, some patients have seen abdominal sonography and elastography improvements in their NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease).”

Sheryl Salis, Registered Dietitian, Diabetes Educator, and Founder of Nurture Health Solutions, stated, “30g green jackfruit flour, due to a low bulk density and an ‘iso-volume effect’, replaces 50g of wheat or rice or millet flour. Green jackfruit flour (30g) has more soluble fibre than wheat, rice, or millet flour (50g). She added, “It’s a good prebiotic. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) clinical practise recommendations say that pre-diabetics and diabetics should receive individualised Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to achieve treatment goals. Patients had rapid satiety and better post-meal blood glucose levels with green jackfruit flour. Thus, reiterating that MNT integration into diabetes care may enhance management.”
