Six people were killed and dozens injured in a collision between two trains in Bangladesh.

According to local media, the accident took place in Brahmanbaria district.

One train was traveling to Chattanooga and the other to Dhaka.

As the tragic news reports came out, rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

There is a fear of increase in casualties, workers in relief operations stated.

Police, military and fire brigade departments participated in the rescue operations.

According to the officials, the accident occurred in the morning when most of the passengers were asleep.

It is currently unknown how the two trains collided on the track, but the government has ordered an investigation.

Railway officials say such an accident is possible only if the driver of a train has broken the signal but the reasons for the incident are yet to be revealed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expresses deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives and injuries.

He appealed to officials and the public to provide assistance to the victims.

It is to be noted that most of the train accidents are caused by unmanageable and poor track of staff in Bangladesh.
