Senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has moved a proposal demanding the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to conduct a census of cows in Mumbai.

According to Indian media, Ram Barot, Six-time corporator from BJP, has demanded not even census but he also said that the municipal corporation should register the cows in Mumbai.

While talking to the media, Ram Barot said that the cows were increasingly being slaughtered and since cows are considered sacred to Hindus, it is the responsibility of people to save them.

He further said that he has been demanding cow sheds as well in the various parts of the city and was now considering forwarding his demand to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“If we want to protect cows, we have to count them, every cows should have their own identification number, at this time we do not know whether there are 2,000 cows in our city or 20 thousand,” Ram Barot added.
