8 Taliban killed during a gunfight in Afghanistan

Eight Taliban were killed during a gunfight with government forces in Kunduz province, Afghanistan.

According to the provincial governor spokesman, fighting happened when Taliban launched an attack on government forces’ checkpoints in Qahwa Khana area of the province.

Three policemen were also injured in the attack.

Earlier on December 30, key commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Qari Saifullah Mehsud killed in Afghanistan.

Turkish media reported, Qari Saifullah Mehsud was also spokesman for Hakimullah Mehsud group.

U.S. to announce withdrawal of 4,000 troops from Afghanistan

Shot dead by gunmen outside the Guloon camp in Khost province, eastern Afghanistan.

The spokesman didn’t disclose his name in the message and claimed the attack was carried out by the Haqqani network offshoot of the Afghan Taliban as they, day earlier, had also killed three militants of Hakimullah Mehsud group in the area.

Saifullah Mehsud notorious for preparing suicide jackets and suicide bombers for terrorist acts and was among the terrorists most wanted to Pakistan for his involvement in several terror attacks in the country, the report said.

Mehusd mastermind of a tragic bus attack in port city of Karachi killed around 59 people in year 2015.

He had also claimed the responsibility, foreign media report said.

Saifullah Mehsud fled from the country to Afghanistan after a security operation launched in Waziristan region, according to the report.

Analysts have termed the killing of Mehsud a big hit to the terrorist outfit TTP.

According to Analysts , Mehusd also claimed the responsibility of the tragic bus attack in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi that killed nearly 45 people in 2015.

In 2016, Mehsud arrested by the U.S. forces in Afghanistan and jailed for 14 months, however, released later, Khattak added.
