Economists mocked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party as they claim that Modi has divided ‘World’s largest Democracy.”

Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had passed the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act and had amended the National Register of Citizens (NRC). These steps have created chaos in India and have outraged people.

Economists have called these steps in a recent article as ‘the most ambitious step yet in a decades-long project of incitement’.

It was also mentioned in the article that Modi’s actions have threatened to damage India’s democracy that could remain for years. His actions will further lead to bloodshed.

The article mentions, “The sad truth is that Modi and the BJP are likely to benefit politically by creating divisions over religion and national identity. They also distract attention from awkward topics such as the economy, which has struggled since the BJP’S thumping election victory last year,”

Economists also mention that Modi’s actions discriminate against Muslims. They have also mocked the Indian government over their treatment to Indian-Occupied Kashmir.

On the other hand, India has again rejected Trump’s suggestion to assist in solving the Kashmir issue. They say that there is no role of any third party.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a press conference that India‘s position on Kashmir conflict is clear.

He said, “Let me reiterate that there is no role for any third party in this matter,”

“But the onus is on Pakistan to create such conducive conditions – free from terror, hostility, and violence.”
