Palace sources reported to the international news agency that Prince Harry and Meghan decided without consulting any royal.

Sources said that the Buckingham Palace was “blindsided”, as negotiations regarding their future had started.

There were “complicated issues” to consider, according to the sources.

However, Harry and Meghan said on Wednesday that they had decided “after many months of reflection and internal discussions”.

They intended to “step back as senior members of the Royal Family, and work to become financially independent.”

They also mentioned that they wanted to divide their time between the UK and North America.

They said, “The geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter.”
