All current scenarios are in Trump’s favor and acquittal is possible

Over 100 lawmakers have taken oath yesterday in the Senate for the beginning of the US President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

John Roberts, Chief justice of the Supreme Court, administered the oath to “do impartial justice” in the Senate.

Note that the trial will be started in the Senate on 21st January.

The senators will decide the fate of the President whether he should remain in office or not.

Chief Justice John Roberts said to the senators, “Do you solemnly swear that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of Donald John Trump, President of the United States, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and the laws, so help you, God?”

Also, the lawmakers have responded with ‘” I do” and they then signed the book to take the oath.

Senate leader Mitch McConnell started pre-trial proceedings and announced the date of trial.

The sergeants at arms called “hear ye, hear ye” as the proceedings started.

Democratic congressman and lead prosecutor Adam Schiff read the articles of impeachment. Adam Schiff is one of the seven impeachment managers to begin a case against the president.

The Democratic leader in the Senate Chuck Schumer asked for new witnesses and documentation.

He said, “The gravity of these charges is self-evident. The House of Representatives has accused the president of trying to shake down a foreign leader for personal gain,”
