The US House of Representatives passed a resolution to limit the powers of President Donald Trump.
The House has passed the resolution to limit Trump’s capabilities to tackle conflict with Iran and issues related to war.
Its purpose is to command congressional approval for clashes between the US and Iran, except for the cases where forthcoming decisions will be taken.
The resolution was passed to command Trump to “terminate the use of armed forces” against Iran unless he gets congressional authority.
The president was also offered an exception where it will be required to “defend against imminent armed attack”
The House gave a reference to the 1973 War Powers Act, in which Congress was granted the authority to check the power of the President to commit the US to armed conflict.
However, the legal questions remained unclear as to if the Congress has the right to bind the president under concurrent resolution.
The Democratic leader and Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that she cannot believe the US has remained safe since after the assassination of Iranian Commander Qassem Soleimani.

However, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy has declared the resolution a “meaningless vote”. The Republican House Whip Ste4ve Scalise terminate “it as a press release”.
Donald Trump has mentioned in his tweet that he hoped “all House Republicans will vote against Crazy Nancy Pelosi’s War Powers Resolution.”
He also explained about the airstrikes that Iranians were aiming to destroy our embassy in Iraq.
