Coronavirus-Tehran cancels Friday prayers to avoid congregation

Officials in Tehran have canceled Friday prayers today due to coronavirus outbreak. There are around 100 cases of coronavirus in Iran.

The vice president for women and family affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar is also a patient of contagious coronavirus.

According to Iran’s local news agency, the Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour informed that all types of congregation must be canceled till further notification.

He also informed that around 15 medical labs will be started within next week to test coronavirus.

Note that 19 people have died due to deadly disease in Iran, according to the latest updates.

Around 2,700 people have died in China and there are more than 75,000 patients.

World health organization head Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus warns that the outbreak has reached ‘decisive point’ and has ‘pandemic potential’.

Dr. Tedros said, “It’s what’s happening in the rest of the world that’s now our greatest concern,”

“We are actually in a very delicate situation in which the outbreak can go in any direction based on how we handle it,”

He said, “This is not a time for fear. This is a time for taking action to prevent infection and save lives now,”

World Health Organisation urged that the world should struggle more to deal with possible coronavirus pandemic.

The WHO said the countries should be “in a phase of preparedness” although it was too early to declare the outbreak a pandemic.

An infectious disease is called pandemic when it spreads easily from person to person in several parts of the world.
