Coronavirus-Italy confirms highest death toll in 24 hours

Over 49 people died in 24 hours in Italy due to coronavirus outbreak. The death toll has increased to 197.

Officials say that there are 4,600 reported cases of coronavirus in Italy.

Italy has reported the most number of deaths outside China.

Officials said that the number of deaths could not be officially confirmed until health officials “established the actual cause of death”.

Government data says that 4.25% of the total cases have died in the country this is the highest rate in the world.

According to the national health institute, the average age of people who died was 81. Around 72% of the people died were men.

There are 100,000 people of coronavirus worldwide, according to the World Health Organization.

Apart from that, around 3,000 people have died, the majority of deaths occurred in China.

WHO director Tedros Adhanon Ghebreyesus has termed the outbreak “deeply concerning”. He insisted all the countries deal with the virus as  “their highest priority”.

On the other hand, South by South West, one of America’s most renowned music festival, has been canceled due to coronavirus.

Organizers of the event say that they had to call off the event for the first time in 34 years.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler gave this order as he declared “a local disaster”.

Note that around 200 people in the US have been infected, death toll also reaches 14.

Event organizers said,  “‘ The show must go on’ is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place.

“We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”
