Residents in California have been ordered to “stay at home” as a measure to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Governor Gavin Newsom informed the public that they should only go outside when necessary during the pandemic.

Governor Newsom said yesterday, “This is a moment we need to make tough decisions. We need to recognize reality.”

Residents will be allowed to go outside to buy groceries or medicine, or for a walk.

In addition to this, businesses deemed non-essential will be forced to close. However, grocery stores, petrol pumps and banks will remain open.

He said that more than half of the total population in California will be infected from the virus in the next two months.

Note that 205 people have died of the virus in the US whereas 14,000 people are infected.

Around 250,000 people have contracted Covid-19 and over 10,000 people have lost their lives worldwide.

International news agency states that California is among the worst hits states by the virus in the US, along with New York and Washington.

Domestic flights suspended in Saudi Arabia

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia has suspended all its domestic flights.

Officials have closed all the buses, taxis and trains for 15 days.

Saudi Press Agency reports that the move will come into force on Saturday morning.

However, essential flights relating to humanitarian and medical aircraft or buses used to transport people for health will not be suspended.

Note that 270 people are infected in Saudi Arabia.
