Princess Maria from Spain is the first royal to die from Coronavirus

Spanish Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Parma died due to Covid-19. She is the first royal to die from coronavirus.

The international news agency reported that Princess Maria, 86, was the cousin of Spain’s King Felipe VI.

Princess’s brother Prince Sixto Enrique de Borbon, the Duke of Aranjuez, released the news on Facebook that she died due to Covid-19.

It was written in the post, “On this afternoon… our sister Maria Teresa de Borbon Parma and Borbon Busset, a victim of the coronavirus COVID-19, died in Paris at the age of eighty-six.”

Her death comes weeks after King Felipe VI of Spain was diagnosed positive for the virus.

Princess Maria Teresa was born on July 28, 1933. She studied in France and became a professor at Paris’ Sorbonne as well as a professor of Sociology at Madrid’s Complutense University.

She was called with her nickname the “Red Princess”. She had a good reputation for her outspoken views and activist work.

There are 54,968 active cases of coronavirus in Spain whereas 5,982 have died.

Prince Charles tested positive for COVID 19

The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus, Clarence House has confirmed.

BBC reported that Prince Charles, 71, is displaying mild symptoms “but otherwise remains in good health”, a spokesman said.

The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus.

Clarence House said Charles and Camilla were now self-isolating in Balmoral in Scotland, adding it was “not possible to ascertain from whom the prince caught the virus”.

They added: “In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.
