At least 6 people have died as storms triggered flooding and tornadoes in several US states.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agenda reported the deaths across three counties due to tornadoes.

The international news agency stated that several homes were also destroyed in the city of Monroe in Louisiana.

The news was confirmed in the city’s official social media account.

It was written in the caption,

“Please cooperate with emergency responders and repair crews as they assess and repair damages. By the grace of God, early reports show only a few minor injuries. Please pray for our city! Many of our neighbors and friends have suffered catastrophic damage. We are hurting, but we are not broken. Times like this remind us that WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER! Together we are responding. Together we will rebuild.“ – Mayor Jamie Mayo #lawx #monroe #louisiana

Three deaths were reported in Jefferson Davis County, two in Lawrence whereas one in Walthall.

Note that the American Meteorological Society had given guidelines about taking shelter during coronavirus pandemic.

“Do not let the virus prevent you from seeking refuge from a tornado,” the association said.
