A pizza delivery boy has tested positive for coronavirus in Delhi. Residents of around 72 houses have been asked by the District Magistrate South to remain quarantined.
Note that there are 11,270 active cases of coronavirus in India, over 448 people have died whereas 1,777 people have recovered. There are 1, 578 confirmed cases in Delhi.
According to the international news agency, twenty more delivery boys are sent to quarantine in Chhattarpur. Sources said that these 20 delivery men came into contact with the boy.
Sources said that the employee does not have a travel history. However, he might have contracted the virus while delivering food to an infected family. Or, he might have contracted COVID-19 at a hospital that he visited earlier.
After the news came out, nearby residents in Hauz Khas and Nagar areas have been asked to self-isolate.
The food company Zomato said that they were not aware of whether the patient had delivered the meal “to a few customers” in Malviya Nagar.
It was stated, “Some of these orders were placed on Zomato. We are not sure whether the rider was affected at the time of delivery,”
“COVID-19 could happen to anyone – and it is near impossible for all of us to completely isolate ourselves, especially when we need outside support for essentials such as food…We believe that none of our riders should and would knowingly keep working if they knew they were infected with COVID-19,”
