Nurse dies after undergoing emergency cesarean, was tested positive for COVID-19
A pregnant nurse in UK, who tested positive for Covid-19, passed away after doctors saved her baby through emergency C-section.
Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong, died on Sunday after undergoing an emergency cesarean to deliver her daughter.
According to the details, the little girl named Mary after her mother’s death.
The nurse’s husband is currently self-isolating after he also had positive Covid-19 diagnosis.
Mary died at Luton and Dunstable Hospital on Easter Sunday.
However, it is still unknown if the child also has coronavirus.
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust confirmed Mary was one of its nurses.
Chief executive David Carter said: “Mary worked here for five years and was a loved member of our team, a fantastic nurse and a great example of what we stand for in this trust.
She tested positive for Covid-19 on April 5 and later admitted to the hospital on April 7.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mary’s family and friends at this sad time.”
A GoFundMe account has been raised over £55,000 for Mary’s family.
Many of Mary’s colleagues paid tribute to the highly efficient nurse.
