Millions of people have begun evacuating in India along its eastern coast as a super cyclonic storm is expected to hit the Bay of Bengal.
The evacuation may continue till tomorrow.
Sources said that the storm is expected to hit West Bengal and Orissa (Odisha) states on Wednesday. The cyclone is likely to hit after several migrants have moved to their villages from cities in India.
Officials said that more than 20 relief teams have been sent.
Trains, which were scheduled to arrive between 18 and 20 May, have also been canceled in Orissa.
State officials are working to find shelters for evacuees. In Orissa, 250 of more than 800 shelters are being used as quarantine centers.
India’s meteorological department has issued a “yellow alert” for the region.
